Um total de 20 famílias de uma comunidade que possuía mais de 3.000 pessoas, conseguiu permanecer no local onde viviam a mais de 30 anos, evitando a desapropriação de seus imóveis contra a violenta política de remoções da prefeitura. A comunidade Vila Autódromo, vizinha ao Parque Olímpico e objeto de uma forte especulação imobiliária por estar localizada no bairro nobre da Barra da Tijuca, zona oeste do Rio de Janeiro e sede principal dos Jogos Olímpicos de 2016, se tornou referência no Rio de Janeiro como símbolo de resistência. No local onde antes era a comunidade, foram construídos 2 hotéis e um estacionamento, e 20 casas para as famílias que se recusaram a sair.

A total of 20 families from a community that had more than 3,000 people, managed to stay in the place where they lived for more than 30 years, avoiding the expropriation of their properties against the city's violent eviction policy. The Vila Autódromo community, neighboring the Olympic Park and the object of strong real estate speculation as it is located in the upscale neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro and the main headquarters of the 2016 Olympic Games, became a reference in Rio de Janeiro as resistance symbol. In the place where the community used to be, 2 hotels and a parking lot were built, and 20 houses for families that refused to leave.
